NO COOK SNACK RECIPES

Welcome to the latest edition of the Camping Chef. Even here, in the Camping Chef’s Kitchen, we want some time off to enjoy the Great Outdoors too, so we offer some snack recipes for campers that you will not be cooking over your campfire!

TRAIL MIX

  • 3 Tablespoons butter, melted
  • 4 Teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 Teaspoon season salt
  • ½ Teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 Cups Corn Chex
  • 2 Cups Crispix
  • 2 Cups bite-sized Shredded Wheat
  • 1 ½ Cups salted cashews

Preheat oven to 250°, coat a 10 x 15” pan with cooking spray.

Mix the first 5 ingredients then toss with cereals and cashews, coating evenly. Spread the mixture evenly and bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool completely before storing in airtight containers.

NO BAKE ENERGY BARS - B

  • 3 Cups Oatmeal (dry, Uncooked)
  • 5/8 Cups Honey
  • 2 Tablespoons whey protein

Combine the peanut butter and honey in a large nonstick pot and warm over low heat until runny and mixed.  Mix in the oatmeal and protein powder.  Do not bake, but heat enough to mix nicely.  Press into a 9x9 inch pan and let cool (to make cutting them easier, you could stick the covered pan into the refrigerator for a few hours).  Slice into 16 bars and package in sandwich baggies.
